Maternal Newborn Child Health (MNCH)
A one year project funded by the UK Department for International Development (UKAid) to reduce HIV related MNCH mortality in Kenya through HIV&AIDS social mobilization, advocacy and enabling women living with HIV and AIDS (WLHIV) and their families to overcome barriers to accessing effective health services. This one year project aims to achieve the following four results:
- Front-line perspectives in the links between HIV and maternal mortality which are better understood by mobilized communities in all four countries
- Civil society has developed advocacy plans in 4 countries for a comprehensive maternal child health Maternal and Child Health (MCH)/HIV model which links HIV prevention to SRH and MCH care
- Effective national platforms are established which influence a national policy agenda that supports the reduction of maternal mortality
- Community pathways of referral and follow up of HIV+ women and their families from CBOs, NGOs and Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) to the health system are strengthened.
